So, you are currently aged 50 years, major age in your life, and you want to change your career. Do you want to go back to work after raising children, or just want a career change or want to start a new career? Is possible? The answer: you are in a good position at this age to know what you really want and have the experience to get it. But this is only the beginning. Here’s how to find the ideal job when you are in more than 50 years of age:
1. Search Know ‘dream’ you actually. Take time to assess your unique strengths and skills. One of the exercises that you can use to help you find out what job is right for you is to make the list, what you enjoy in life and what you want to change. Any job even if you do not get paid for it? What do you want from your new career: more responsibility? more money? Or want more interaction with humans?
2. Let Your Imagination Grow. Imagine the scenario in the future when you live your ideal life. What’s it like? What do you do? What are the things that will make you happy? Maybe that worked with young people, managing a team, doing something creative, or help your local community. Now think about the type of work that may provide the values for you. In fact, if you are in an industry when you do not have experience in it, it does not mean that outside of your reach.
3. Selection List Career ideal. If you have a list of “dream” job you want to do, narrow and they become some sort of selection, the possibilities are close to actual reality. Explore job boards and ads to see what kind of opportunities are available, and which companies are sound interesting.
4. Build Your Confidence. For many people entering the job market or change jobs in their 50s, self-confidence can be a problem. If you have not worked for long term because you stayed home to raise children, for example, you may feel remote from the world of work. Try to build your confidence, because this may become a major barrier that can stop you from finding your ideal job. Taking the type of temporary employment (part-time jobs) may be the best way to build your confidence, and also to test yourself if you’re interested / comfortable on the field or not.
5. Take Time To Update Your Resume. Managing capability (management skill) is an important concept here. Management Skill is a skill
that can be used in any occupation or field of life, and also you can get anywhere. They are covering skills such as managing people, organizational, negotiation, problem solving (problem solving skills) can be obtained when you perform volunteer work, hobbies and interests, sporting activities and even while raising the kids though. Do not underestimate the value of your life experience!
6. Be flexible. It is important to maintain a positive attitude when you have more than 50 years old and plan to seek a new career or change your career. You must be flexible and be prepared to adapt and adjust to the new organization, which you will do things very different from what you normally do.
